With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when João Pirani tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pirani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from João Pirani went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Edmílson Fernandez got a throw-in 19 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Aírton Sousa. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Pirani in the 20th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Vascogoianiense FC's Aírton Sousa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 29 minutes into the match, João Pirani notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vascogoianiense FC were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aírton Sousa took the corner. In the 41st minute of the match Vascogoianiense FC got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Aírton Sousa ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 44 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Guillermo Mariano. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pirani in the 45th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Augusto Peixoto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gilmar Monteiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. In the 59thth minute of the game João Pirani who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aírton Sousa in the 60th minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Gilmar Monteiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edmílson Fernandez made in the 69th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Aírton Sousa however managed to control. Sidnei Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Gilmar Monteiro hit a great ball. After having played for 75 minutes, Gilmar Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilmar Monteiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute, Aírton Sousa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. The Vascogoianiense FC fans' excitement grew in the 86th match minute when Vascogoianiense FC's João Pirani looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Vascogoianiense FC from getting a goal against them. When Gilmar Monteiro came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Vascogoianiense FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilmar Monteiro couldn't finish the play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vascogoianiense FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
