The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes National Team Cape-Verde got a freekick which was hit by Fredric Melander. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Pål Sefastsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Fredric Melander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. National Team Cape-Verde's Bennvar Post was substituted for Carlos Alberto Tevez. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bennvar Post in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Rudolf Lundgren came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd match minute, National Team Cape-Verde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudolf Lundgren to maneuver through the defense. National Team Cape-Verde's Henrik Örnberg got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rudolf Lundgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bennvar Post's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bennvar Post in the 83rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90thth minute of the game Bennvar Post who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
