The audience was convinced that Elpidio Francis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Guy Davis was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Guy Davis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 42 minutes, Reynaldo Mede mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Holy Cross Mountains and the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Guy Davis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 44th minute of the match. Holy Cross Mountains's Guy Davis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 45th minute of play. Elpidio Francis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elpidio Francis to make the kick off. Rafael Dalmu charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rafael Dalmu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The throw-in from Roque Terron in the 62nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Petrică Măcriș. Holy Cross Mountains's Guy Davis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Holy Cross Mountains from getting a goal against them. A sloppy throw-in by Roque Terron in the 66th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Petrică Măcriș. In the 66th minute, Pedro Shields hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's André Monclús was substituted for Elpidio Francis. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were furious when Timoteo Basualdo was red carded, 71 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a rather tough play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Timoteo Basualdo got a free kick in the 71st minute. 73 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Stroescu came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Roque Terron's late challenge caught a ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roque Terron helped the player get up and apologised. With his leg Guy Davis managed to avoid a goal in the 82ndth minute, when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's André Monclús fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when André Monclús got free with Guy Davis in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 95th minute André Monclús shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guy Davis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guy Davis was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but André Monclús showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 95 minute of play. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA played a much better game than Holy Cross Mountains and deserved their victory. The Holy Cross Mountains players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
