The corner led Newcastle United's Zé Paulo Zonta to fire away a dangerous shot which Mauricio Naldo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 17 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo fc's Fabio Tancredo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mikolaj Jerzyk narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pankracy Malicki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Mauricio Naldo made a huge save. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by San Lorenzo fc's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Zé Paulo Zonta was slow to take the kick. During this time Newcastle United's players had a chance to rest. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Thomas Vollmar made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo fc's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Pacholewski came free, but Mauricio Naldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 52 minutes into the game, Newcastle United's Pankracy Malicki nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mauricio Naldo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After a rather tough play, Newcastle United's Marian Erland got a free kick in the 56th minute.
