The supporters of Commander Crowe booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco-Antonio van Basten didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute João Augusto Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Hoffmanns saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edvard Fagerberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Haupt, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavian Basten in the 28th minute of play forced Commander Crowe's goalkeeper Edvard Fagerberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Augusto Fantini in the 32nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling João Augusto Fantini in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck August Hoffmanns prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Flavio Canal tried in the 35th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy August Hoffmanns a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Rot-Weiss-Essen's zone, Nicasio Gotzon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. August Hoffmanns came out of the goal and Nicasio Gotzon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Haupt in the 42nd minute of play forced Commander Crowe's goalkeeper Edvard Fagerberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Commander Crowe's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Narciso Noe in the 45th minute. Narciso Noe made a great header on Commander Crowe's corner, it was just that Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns managed to reach the ball for a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Octavian Basten to strike the kick off in the second half. Mathias Hultman hit a great ball. 94 minutes in the game, Maximilian Henning fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Edvard Fagerberg having to interfere. The Rot-Weiss-Essen players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
