In the 95thth minute of the game Jonas Tauro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Club Atlético Escocia getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Venancio Mikolas hit a great ball. The Club Atlético Escocia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
