The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zarando Lastras was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. 24 minutes into the match, Atlético Maravilla's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Zarando Lastras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play forced Atlético Maravilla's goalkeeper Zarando Lastras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atlético Maravilla's Zarando Lastras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play. Herminio March's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Herminio March helped the player get up and apologised. Herminio March kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zarando Lastras. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quentin Gonzalez, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 69 minutes of play, Atlético Maravilla's Dionisio Hidalgo made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Atlético Maravilla's Aniceto Campello was substituted for Dionisio Hidalgo. Tamer Özguner was shown his second yellow card after 80 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Atlético Maravilla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tamer Özguner didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zarando Lastras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quentin Gonzalez, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. In the 94th minute, Quentin Gonzalez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Atlético Maravilla's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
