The supporters of El Salvador booed when Mercedario AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Gentza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Zorita made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Hernan Garcia sent off a good shot on target. Angel Manex received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ricardo Zorita came out and tried to block the shot, but Angel Manex slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 16th minute. Fernando Cresenciano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Fernandino, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After 24 minutes of play, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernando Cresenciano was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 28 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Marco Tamayo. Moises Fernandino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fernando Orixe got a throw-in 33 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Adolfo Ovando. 35 minutes had been played when some careless play by El Salvador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hernan Garcia was slow to take the kick. During this time Mercedario AFC's players had a chance to rest. Adolfo Ovando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hernan Garcia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Moises Fernandino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernando Cresenciano having to make a save. Marco Tamayo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernan Garcia in the 62nd minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Moises Fernandino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Fernando Cresenciano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Hernan Garcia fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mercedario AFC's protests and gave Hernan Garcia a yellow card for diving instead. Hernan Garcia hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Mercedario AFC's Fernando Cresenciano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Luque in the 82nd minute of play. 85 minutes into the game, Valentino Ferrant was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Salvador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mercedario AFC the free kick. Valentino Ferrant kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the game, Hernan Garcia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Ricardo Zorita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hernan Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute.
