Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolae Barbu in the 13th minute of the match. Zygmunt Dunajski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zygmunt Dunajski in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. Nicolae Barbu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. FC Steaua Pildesti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nistor Costandache in the 29th minute. A nice corner shot did that Nistor Costandache got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dante Lacasa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 32nd minute of play forced FC Steaua Pildesti's goalkeeper Marian Văduvescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Cristian Fința sent off a good shot on target. 39 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolae Barbu came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Mexico booed when FC Steaua Pildesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nistor Costandache didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute, Nistor Costandache hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zygmunt Dunajski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nicolae Barbu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nae Griguță kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mexico's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nistor Costandache was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Steaua Pildesti's players had a chance to rest. FC Steaua Pildesti's Marian Văduvescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save FC Steaua Pildesti from getting a goal against them. Marian Văduvescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
