Nicolae Barbu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Zygmunt Dunajskis short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 18th minute Zygmunt Dunajski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Zygmunt Dunajski made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC Steaua Pildesti's Marian Văduvescu did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zygmunt Dunajski in the 31st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Zygmunt Dunajski sent off a good shot on target. After 42 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Filip Paulescu. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zygmunt Dunajski was the one to do the kick off. Nistor Costandache charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nistor Costandache the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nistor Costandache kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goalkeeper Marian Văduvescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 80th minute. In the 85th minute Zygmunt Dunajski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lucian Stere hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After 94 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Terry Doyle. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but FC Steaua Pildesti were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
