Match Report

SK Fenerbahce Wien
Spectators: 50 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1)
The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Erik Lundberg took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind SK Fenerbahce Wien's goalkeeper Chris Draxl, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thiago Pliego made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Nereo Rik sent off a good shot on target. After 7 minutes Chile's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Phillip Hörholdt who took care of the corner kick. Chris Draxl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Orlando Casaus hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Erik Lundberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The throw-in from Stefan Krause in the 25th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Chile's Pedro Indiano. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 34th minute of play forced SK Fenerbahce Wien's goalkeeper Chris Draxl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stefan Krause made in the 39th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Chile's Francisco Carballar. In the 41st minute, Robin Ivanschitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mariano Lacasa to make the kick off. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandros Matsinopoulos in the 53rd minute of play. Chile's Mariano Lacasa got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in SK Fenerbahce Wien's zone, Mariano Lacasa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chris Draxl came out of the goal and Mariano Lacasa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, SK Fenerbahce Wien's Brage Thorbjørnsen got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chris Draxl having to make a save. Chris Draxl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Eike Hörtnagel came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eike Hörtnagel in the 69th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SK Fenerbahce Wien's Chris Draxl proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save SK Fenerbahce Wien from getting a goal against them. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chris Draxl read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by SK Fenerbahce Wien's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Lacasa was slow to take the kick. During this time Chile's players had a chance to rest. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Mariano Lacasa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chris Draxl breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, SK Fenerbahce Wien's Chris Draxl got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, SK Fenerbahce Wien's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Chris Draxl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Chile players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented SK Fenerbahce Wien from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
