Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rıdvan Kurushov ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rıdvan Kurushov made a great header on Nevşehirspor's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. 22 minutes into the game, Alex Chicote threw the ball into play from the sideline. Nevşehirspor's Alesandro Nesta quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 28 minutes into the match, Nevşehirspor's Cipriano Proença sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 94th minute Ragnar Åberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Nevşehirspor fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
