In the 11th minute, MAZER SAF's Nelsinho Koehler ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Julio Vera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. MAZER SAF's Adriano Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adriano Carneiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. When Aílton Paraíba fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MAZER SAF's protests and gave Aílton Paraíba a yellow card for diving instead. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho Koehler in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to MAZER SAF getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Leonel Leão hit a great ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Garro, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 72nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 76th minute Nelsinho Koehler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
