The audience thought a goal was coming when Berkay Yetiş got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Moises Fernandino was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berkay Yetiş in the 56th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the game, Girona FC's David Palau nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. David Palau scored 9-0 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricardo Zorita, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ricardo Zorita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Palau went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 10-0 was the resulting score. David Palau recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, David Palau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and David Palau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David Palau took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 11-0. Girona FC made a substitution. Kepa Molina replaced Joaquim Lustosa. In the 92nd minute, David Palau made a precise shot to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 12-0. In the 96th minute, David Palau left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Girona FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 13-0. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Palau in the 99th minute of play.
