In the 4th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Irvin Willoughby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Irvin Willoughby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 22nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. 27 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when 王亦俊 came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 28 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. After having played for 32 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Irvin Willoughby didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 36th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Irvin Willoughby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute. Irvin Willoughby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romain Corcoran during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd minute, Romain Corcoran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hurricanes FC's Irvin Willoughby proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Hurricanes FC from getting a goal against them. 63 minutes into the game, Brock Yarbrough was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hurricanes FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Hurricanes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brock Yarbrough didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 王亦俊 in the 74th minute of the match. Romain Corcoran kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. After 80 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Irvin Willoughby came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Irvin Willoughby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Irvin Willoughby. Hurricanes FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4.
