PIAUÍ FC's Iurie Chiriacescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 5th minute of play. Víktor Santos hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Iurie Chiriacescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Mete Gøl came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Peru's Emmanuel Reyes got a free kick in the 17th minute. 18 minutes into the match, PIAUÍ FC's Baturhan Oytun sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. PIAUÍ FC's Iurie Chiriacescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquin Prats to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mete Gøl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luz Tejedor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru were awarded a corner in the 44th minute after PIAUÍ FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, PIAUÍ FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Víktor Santos to maneuver through the defense. Iurie Chiriacescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 57th minute Demis Katsarolidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iurie Chiriacescu made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Luz Tejedor sent off a good shot on target. Guga Trancoso took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. PIAUÍ FC's Fernandinho Mesquita was substituted for Demis Katsarolidis. PIAUÍ FC's Juninho Freitas was substituted for Baturhan Oytun. PIAUÍ FC's Vladimir de Sena was substituted for Mete Gøl. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guga Trancoso in the 74th minute of the match. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juninho Freitas, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juninho Freitas in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. PIAUÍ FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Peru had controlled the match.
