In the 19thth minute of the game Lautaro Mancebo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisito Antequera in the 21st minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 26th minute of the match. After 30 minutes of play, Montevideo's Fernandão Recife made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Lacasa was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 33rd minute of the match, Bray McJon tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Lacasa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 36th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Luca Rouco was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 39 minutes into the game, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ronaldo Medeiros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 45th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luisito Antequera to strike the kick off in the second half. When Bray McJon fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montevideo's protests and gave Bray McJon a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Luca Zorita hit a great ball. When Luca Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luca Zorita couldn't finish the play. After 80 minutes, Fernandão Recife mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montevideo and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Mexico booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernandão Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldo Medeiros made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. In the 82nd minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Ronaldo Medeiros made a huge save. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernandão Recife in the 84th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ronaldo Medeiros, 1-4. The referee felt a red card was in order, 92 minutes into the game, when Christian Passos put in a rough tackle. 91 minutes into the game, one of Montevideo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ronaldo Medeiros had in the 93rdth minute some difficulties stopping Joel Gaona's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When the final whistle sounded Mexico left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Montevideo.
