The audience thought a goal was coming when Kajar Püss got free with Julio Vera in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 14 minutes into the match, Grimório's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Wawrzyniec Niedziela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 19th minute of play forced Grimório's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Niedziela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. When Grimório's Kajar Püss in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 59th match minute, Grimório was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tõnis Kaldvee to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Grimório getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Konrad Värnik hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Wawrzyniec Niedziela in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 65th minute Kajar Püss shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 68 played minutes Grimório got a freekick which was hit by Tõnis Kaldvee. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Wawrzyniec Niedziela made a huge save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Walroth in the 81st minute of play. After having played for 83 minutes, Jack Walroth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grimório's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jack Walroth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 85th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Grimório's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wawrzyniec Niedziela came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
