After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luis Andino in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Coritiba Foot Ball Club's goalkeeper Alvaro Rudolfo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 45 minutes into the game, Fausto Romero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Alvaro Rudolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play. After 48 minutes Coritiba Foot Ball Club's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Alvaro Rudolfo did a great save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
After 51 minutes of play Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Fausto Romero was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Coritiba Foot Ball Club getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Fausto Romero hit a great ball. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Artur Laguna ran over to the corner to take the kick. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvaro Rudolfo having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 68 minutes, Alvaro Rudolfo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Evaristo Montenegro charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evaristo Montenegro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Coritiba Foot Ball Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rudolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Coritiba Foot Ball Club's Evaristo Montenegro. But to his dismay, Evaristo Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. A collision led to Coritiba Foot Ball Club getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Marquez Padolles hit a great ball. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Marquez Padolles came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Montenegro came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alvaro Rudolfo could save by the left post. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marquez Padolles in the 89th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alvaro Rudolfo. Coritiba Foot Ball Club's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. In the 98th match minute, Coritiba Foot Ball Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wawrzyniec Gargasz to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Coritiba Foot Ball Club.
