Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteve Naranjo having to interfere. Joel Gaona scored 2-1 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Esteve Naranjo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joel Gaona made a kick off. ZLA FC were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ágoston Benedek took the corner. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anestis Dimitriou, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute of the match ZLA FC got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ágoston Benedek ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Esteve Naranjo quite easily take care of the ball. Facundo Cadaval hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 68th minute of play forced ZLA FC's goalkeeper Esteve Naranjo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ZLA FC's Esteve Naranjo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save ZLA FC from getting a goal against them. Anestis Dimitriou received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, ZLA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Esteve Naranjo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Esteve Naranjo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
