La Academia's Iwan Grocholski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 8th minute of play. Lalo Salamanca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. 14 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robby Woody. The audience was convinced that Robby Woody's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. In the 22nd minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iwan Grocholski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Robby Woody kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 3-0 in the 32 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Robby Woody got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Robby Woody got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 37th minute. The score was now 4-0. 41 minutes into the match, Robby Woody had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robby Woody was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Robby Woody could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The referee gave La Academia a penalty, 67 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Robby Woody, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. 7-0. Aaron Mazuste hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robby Woody's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Eric Sillén might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eric Sillén ran back to his position shaking his head. 96 minutes into the match, La Academia's Francisco Alberto Zañartu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
