Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After 33 played minutes Risca Faca IMT got a freekick which was hit by Jarbas Lopez. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Renato Prestes in the 36th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute of the match, Pedro Augusto Duarte got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dante Lacasa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Leopoldo Azevedo took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Dante Lacasa to make any attempt to save it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The referee ignored Risca Faca IMT's protests and gave Orvar Gabrielsson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Risca Faca IMT's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Risca Faca IMT getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Paulo Renato Prestes hit a great ball.
