Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Mateus Neto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Tomas Illescas made in the 20th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Patricio Costa however managed to control. In the 21stth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GAÚCHO FC's Mateus Neto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 30th minute of play forced GAÚCHO FC's goalkeeper Mateus Neto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Mateus Neto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The corner led Venezuela's Tomas Illescas to fire away a dangerous shot which Mateus Neto despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Mateus Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 43rd minute of play. Juan Cunha's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Juan Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Mateus Neto was a little too slow when Patricio Costa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 0-2. Rodriguinho Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Illescas scored 0-3 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mateus Neto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Venezuela's attentive Salvador Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Guga Baptista made a throw-in in the 67th minute of the game. In the 73rd minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mateus Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 74th minute of the match. Tomas Illescas in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mateus Neto, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Patricio Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mateus Neto having to make a save. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mateus Neto having to interfere. After having played for 84 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 86 minutes into the game, Salvador Gisbert threw the ball into play from the sideline. GAÚCHO FC's Sandro Branco quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After having played for 87 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
