The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas did a great save. 7 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jeremy Nicholas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tio Lio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 16th minute of play. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony Pacheco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Peru's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Glen Conklin was slow to take the kick. During this time New England Minas's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on New England Minas's corner Glen Conklin fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Rolando Noboa quite easily take care of the ball. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgardo Silva in the 36th minute of play. New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 40th minute of play. Jeremy Nicholas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After a defensive mix-up in New England Minas's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeremy Nicholas came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The New England Minas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Peru were winning 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 57th minute of play forced New England Minas's goalkeeper Jeremy Nicholas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Tio Lio came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute, Julian Murillo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jeremy Nicholas. The goal made the score 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luz Tejedor got free with Jeremy Nicholas in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor.
