Gilberto Boone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 14th minute of the match. Varennes's Gilberto Boone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Bernardo Goudreau made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Felix Montenegro scored 1-2 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gilberto Boone, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erwin Gay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Boone having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Maurice Odonnell came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maurice Odonnell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gilberto Boone was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gilberto Boone, 1-4.
