But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Donato Goiz might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Donato Goiz ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Goiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Donato Goiz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Donato Goiz tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 14th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Bucciarelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donato Goiz in the 16th minute of play. Felix Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristiano Bucciarelli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristiano Bucciarelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Prisma Fiorenzuola's Cristiano Bucciarelli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. A collision led to G.S. Prisma Fiorenzuola getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Emilio Persichetti hit a great ball. 38 minutes into the match, G.S. Prisma Fiorenzuola's Donato Goiz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Donato Goiz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Prisma Fiorenzuola's Donato Goiz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. G.S. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Donato Goiz went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because G.S. Prisma Fiorenzuola had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
