Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Emmanuel Reyes made in the 4th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Milagros Fraga however managed to control. In the 5th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Alvarado to maneuver through the defense. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augustin Panaiteanu in the 6th minute of play. After some careless play in the Gremio Viana defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Fiúza. The Gremio Viana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Fiúza should have stopped the shot. When Joaquim Paredes came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Gremio Viana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Paredes couldn't finish the play. In the 16th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Gremio Viana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 20th minute of play. The throw-in from Severino Torcato in the 24th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. If Joaquim Paredes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 27th minute of play. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Paredes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samuel Fiúza came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Julian Murillo. But to his dismay, Julian Murillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Peru's Eliseo Mina got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

51 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Paredes came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peru were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Gremio Viana's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. After having played for 66 minutes, Milagros Fraga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Milagros Fraga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Joaquim Paredes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Samuel Fiúza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 73rd minute of play. Luz Tejedor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Samuel Fiúza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gremio Viana made a substitution. Carlos Luna replaced Joaquim Paredes. Gremio Viana's Edson Leme was substituted for Augustin Panaiteanu. Gremio Viana made a substitution. Antonio Calisto replaced Tony Påk. 81 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Samuel Fiúza. Gremio Viana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julian Murillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Carlos Luna struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Rolando Noboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gremio Viana. In the 89th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th minute, Severino Torcato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Peru's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
