In the 4th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Konstanty Wawro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cemal Palabıyık might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thiago Pliego. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cemal Palabıyık ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Rega Merida CF's Thiago Pliego threw himself towards the right post 7 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cemal Palabıyık, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 13 minutes into the match, Rega Merida CF's Nistor Sârban sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 23rdth minute of the game Nistor Sârban who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nistor Sârban in the 25th minute of play. After 29 minutes of play, Rega Merida CF's Nistor Sârban made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thiago Pliego was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nistor Sârban hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Konstanty Wawro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Casaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rega Merida CF's Nistor Sârban got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

A sloppy throw-in by Xavier Figueroa in the 52nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Rega Merida CF's Lech Matela. Konstanty Wawro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 62nd minute. In the 65th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Konstanty Wawro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Konstanty Wawro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Rega Merida CF made a substitution. Bartosz Loncki replaced Telis Lianos. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nistor Sârban's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 81st minute of play forced Rega Merida CF's goalkeeper Konstanty Wawro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 85th minute of the match Rega Merida CF got a corner. Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Elpidio Umbruso ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Chile's goalie and right to Cemal Palabıyık. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Chile's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Nistor Sârban received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Thiago Pliego tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Casaus got free with Konstanty Wawro in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jose Manzanedo hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
