Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bray McJon in the 18th minute of play. Lautaro Navarro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luisito Antequera in the 19th minute. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernandão Recife, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisito Antequera in the 24th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisito Antequera might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lautaro Navarro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luisito Antequera ran back to his position shaking his head. Moises Tafalla scored 2-2 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 34 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Bray McJon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lautaro Navarro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 38th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Lautaro Navarro managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when Montevideo's Luisito Antequera fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Lautaro Navarro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luisito Antequera in the 44th minute. Lautaro Navarro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luisito Antequera went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. But to his dismay, Bray McJon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-2. Montevideo's Luisito Antequera got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lautaro Navarro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luisito Antequera's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Luca Espinar kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Emanuel Ocampo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisito Antequera, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Luisito Antequera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Luisito Antequera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luisito Antequera might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lautaro Navarro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luisito Antequera ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Luisito Antequera put it in 6-2 from a short distance just to the right of Lautaro Navarro. Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luisito Antequera in the 81st minute of play. In the 87th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Montevideo's Luisito Antequera. But to his dismay, Luisito Antequera quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-2.
