Match Report
Stadion Modlau
Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31,
Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Francisco Seco started the match with the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudio Fioravanti in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of Uruguay:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Modlau:s goal. In the 10th minute, Bruno Beldad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute of the match Barry McCray shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Claudio Fioravanti tried to sneak it across the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Fioravanti came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kevin Carballal's late challenge caught a Modlau's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kevin Carballal helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Kevin Carballal got a free kick in the 21st minute. In the 23rd minute, Claudio Fioravanti made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 27 minutes into the game, Alberto Gisbert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Modlau the free kick. Alberto Gisbert hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Claudio Fioravanti's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Joaquin Gayoso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Jaime Cazalla hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Fioravanti in the 41st minute of play. When Camilo Covarrubias fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Uruguay's protests and gave Camilo Covarrubias a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Camilo Covarrubias hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Claudio Fioravanti kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Joaquin Gayoso. That made the score 4-0 in the 46 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.
The wind increased when Claudio Fioravanti made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Claudio Fioravanti kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Claudio Fioravanti's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. In the 55th minute of the match Modlau got a corner. Uruguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Barry McCray ran over to the corner to take the kick. Claudio Fioravanti took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. In the 61st minute Claudio Fioravanti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Fioravanti in the 63rd minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Claudio Fioravanti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudio Fioravanti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. Modlau's Damazy Jucha was substituted for Jarmo Laik. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Claudio Fioravanti put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. When Modlau's Claudio Fioravanti in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Uruguay's goalie prevented a goal. In the 75th minute, Claudio Fioravanti left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Modlau fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-0. In the 80th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Seco to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudio Fioravanti in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 83 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Barry McCray was slow to take the kick. During this time Modlau's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Zula Sanocki got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Joaquin Gayoso quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 84th minute Modlau were awarded a corner. Barry McCray went to the cornerflag to take it. Barry McCray made a great header on Modlau's corner, it was just that Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso managed to reach the ball for a save. The Modlau fans' excitement grew in the 86th match minute when Modlau's Claudio Fioravanti looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 10-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominic Salazar in the 90th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Modlau fans cheered their team off the field, for while Uruguay had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
