USA's Lincoln Hand was substituted for Cody Miles. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lincoln Hand stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lincoln Hand in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kim-André van der Schans saved Switzerland from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alain Berset in the 58th minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Roberto Layton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Layton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alain Berset's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. 67 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Sung McKinley came free, but Kim-André van der Schans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
