Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Thomas Vollmar started the match with the kick off. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 4th minute of play. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Thomas Vollmar sent off a good shot on target. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikolaj Jerzyk having to interfere. Pankracy Malicki scored 1-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 19th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Pankracy Malicki sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Lorenzo Cazalla got a free kick in the 21st minute. After some careless play in the Newcastle United defense, Alberto Tafalla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mikolaj Jerzyk. The Newcastle United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mikolaj Jerzyk should have stopped the shot. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Pacholewski in the 32nd minute of play. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 35th minute of the match. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Adam Pacholewski sent off a good shot on target. Newcastle United:s Mikolaj Jerzyk showed great skill when he stopped Joel Gaona:s penalty. After 49 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Marian Erland. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thomas Vollmar in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Zé Paulo Zonta hit a great ball. Newcastle United made a substitution. Filip Orling replaced Julian Obuchowicz. The supporters of Mexico booed when Newcastle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Zonta didn't get a good kick on the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alberto Tafalla. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pankracy Malicki in the 73rd minute of play. Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Newcastle United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thomas Vollmar in the 85th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mikolaj Jerzyk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 94 minutes into the game, Newcastle United's Thomas Vollmar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Lacasa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. 99 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Vollmar came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mexico players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Newcastle United.
