Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Blåvitt's Gösta Lundberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gösta Lundberg in the 20th minute of play. Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Örjan Johansson took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After having played for 30 minutes, Michel Lundberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blåvitt's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Lundberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Blåvitt's Gösta Lundberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 38 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Örjan Johansson. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Axel Tasis hit a great ball. The supporters of Blåvitt booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gösta Lundberg made a kick off. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Örjan Johansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 58 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stefan Eriksson who took care of the corner kick. Örjan Johansson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. If Örjan Johansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Örjan Johansson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Juan Rubio lost his temper 69 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gösta Lundberg in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 76 minutes into the game, Gösta Lundberg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 82nd minute. After 83 minutes of play, Blåvitt's Michel Lundberg made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Mike Cassar Torreggiani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 89 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Ernst Tönnberg came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernst Tönnberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 91st minute. 92 minutes into the match, Blåvitt's Stefan Eriksson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benito Sanz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Blåvitt's Mike Cassar Torreggiani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 96th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Blåvitt had played much better football throughout.
