When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Michail Antonio took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. 6 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jesus Satordi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Scholten, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Elizabeth Three Lions FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cvetin Luković in the 12th minute. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Qian Shu Chong, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. After 16 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cvetin Luković who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Cvetin Luković got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Benito Sanz quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Richard Scholten went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. In the 31st minute, Costa Rica's Alexander Carballo seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Alexander Carballo the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Costa Rica protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Alexander Carballo had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 30th minute of the game. One of Costa Rica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Elizabeth Three Lions FC:s goal. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Michail Antonio tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-1.

Elizabeth Three Lions FC made a substitution. Danny Ings replaced Michail Antonio. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Richard Scholten made a kick off. If Danny Ings had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Scholten, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Richard Scholten came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute Richard Scholten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Elizabeth Three Lions FC's Paul Wilson got a free kick in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the match, Cvetin Luković had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cvetin Luković was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. In the 63rd minute, Qian Shu Chong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cvetin Luković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cvetin Luković, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 88 minutes of play, Elizabeth Three Lions FC's Danny Ings made it 8-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Eliseo Noboa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Jesus Satordi made a huge save. In the 95th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. Elizabeth Three Lions FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
