Andrea Pirlo was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes into the match, Radomiak Radom's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Andrea Pirlo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th match minute, Radomiak Radom was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur Binau to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 53rd minute. The corner led Venezuela's Jose Correa to a score. 0-2 in the 53rd minute. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Andrea Pirlo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 92nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andrea Pirlo was relentless in the 95th minute of the game.
