In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Herblay's goalkeeper Qian Zheng Yi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Qian Zheng Yi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rein Goethals went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Batiste Botella sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, de belletrekkers's goal looked a bit too open when Karim Bellarabi came free, but Baxter De Hond reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rein Goethals fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Qian Zheng Yi having to interfere. A collision led to de belletrekkers getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Qian Zheng Yi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelian Barboni in the 30th minute of play. de belletrekkers's Baxter De Hond played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Raulin in the 32nd minute of play. When Adam Raulin came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Herblay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adam Raulin couldn't finish the play. After 36 played minutes de belletrekkers got a freekick which was hit by Leon Van Der Meren. Herblay's Jean-Michel Portier quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Norbert Van den Gans, made in the 41st minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Herblay's Karim Bellarabi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Baxter De Hond. That made the score 1-1 after 44 minutes of play. Baxter De Hond made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Karim Bellarabi sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When George Van Impe fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored de belletrekkers's protests and gave George Van Impe a yellow card for diving instead. George Van Impe hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Tim Stevens kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. The supporters of Herblay booed when de belletrekkers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tim Stevens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baxter De Hond showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adam Raulin in the 91st minute of the match. Herblay's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
