Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Daniel Zorita took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Brighton were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rudy Lee took the corner. The corner ended in Rudy Lee almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Brighton's Garry Vercauteren did a great save. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Garry Vercauteren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 26th minute of play forced Brighton's goalkeeper Garry Vercauteren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelino Xacintu kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Garry Vercauteren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 43 minutes into the game, Antonio Arias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brighton the free kick. Brighton's Rudy Chan was substituted for Alan Gorria. A hard shot by Rudy Lee from long distance, 45 minutes into the match, got Julio Vera's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After 46 played minutes Brighton got a freekick which was hit by SK Ramachandran. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rudy Chan to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-1 to the left of a surprised Garry Vercauteren 52 minutes into the match. The supporters of Brighton booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 played minutes, Brighton's Rudy Lee shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Brighton reached it. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Garry Vercauteren made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 62nd minute of play forced Brighton's goalkeeper Garry Vercauteren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Garry Vercauteren made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 63rd minute. Garry Vercauteren was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 63 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Garry Vercauteren in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 72nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Brighton's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luis Andino was extremely unlucky when he, in the 78th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Alfred Hitchcock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Garry Vercauteren made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. 84 minutes into the match, Brighton's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Garry Vercauteren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfred Hitchcock, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rudy Chan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 95th minute after Brighton's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Brighton's Garry Vercauteren managed to reach the ball for a save.
