Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Sagene IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hans-Kristian Aanes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Sagene IF booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Christer Kinn might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christer Kinn ran back to his position shaking his head. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans-Kristian Aanes in the 72nd minute of play.
