Jonathan Sammut blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dante Lacasa having to make a save. Leonardo Leoz made in the 26th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Templars FC's Evan Vancell. In the 29th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Courtois saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led to Mexico's Luca Rouco getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Alberto Tafalla might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over André Courtois. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alberto Tafalla ran back to his position shaking his head.

After 51 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Leoz. After having played for 53 minutes, Jonathan Sammut managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Templars FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonathan Sammut was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Alberto Tafalla slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of André Courtois. That made the score 0-1 after 55 minutes of play. Templars FC's André Courtois proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Templars FC from getting a goal against them. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Templars FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Joel Gaona got away a dangerous shot. Despite this André Courtois quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 74 minutes into the game, Leonardo Leoz threw the ball into play from the sideline. Templars FC's Ritchie Engelborgh quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. André Courtois tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute, Ritchie Engelborgh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, Márk Kovács ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Mexico were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
