In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Alexandre Matamala managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curicó-Unido's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandre Matamala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. When Jose Correa was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 53 minutes had been played. The supporters of Curicó-Unido booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the game, Curicó-Unido's Osasun Leys nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Matamala, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. A collision led to Curicó-Unido getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Axel Elgueta hit a great ball. Curicó-Unido made a substitution. Eduardo Vargas replaced Alexandre Matamala. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Rigoberto Mina a yellow card for diving instead. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Venezuela! The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Curicó-Unido had won after a very even match.
