Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ksawery Winnicki in the 17th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Ksawery Winnicki came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelinho Barral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Marcelinho Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Roceira SC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Marcelinho Barral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Roceira SC's Marcelinho Barral did a great save. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Paulo Trevisan, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Marcelinho Barral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Facundo Cadaval in the 53rd minute. When Válbson Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Roceira SC's protests and gave Válbson Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Roceira SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mexico eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
