Mickaël Maris dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 10 minutes into the game, Abram Sarmiento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Mickaël Maris was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pedro Manzanares was a little too slow when Ünsal Sendur got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 13th minute. The score was now 2-2. A sloppy throw-in by Luis Cazalla in the 18th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Valdo de Queirós. Pedro Manzanares was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Ünsal Sendur capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ünsal Sendur really showed his touch with that goal: 4-2. 27 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Ünsal Sendur sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Manzanares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ünsal Sendur couldn't finish the play. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Valdo de Queirós managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Luis Cazalla in the 41 minute of the game. In the 85th minute, Ünsal Sendur ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Manzanares was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-3. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Ünsal Sendur got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 96th minute of the game. One of Colombia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Nova Iguaçu MZFC:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Ünsal Sendur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Ünsal Sendur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Colombia had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
