The Ninjas in Pyjamas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aron Neculce should have stopped the shot. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ninjas in Pyjamas's goalkeeper Aron Neculce, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aron Neculce didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 41st minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Aron Neculce. Ninjas in Pyjamas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Iván Zamorano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelian Zogreanu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Petre Izbașa hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aron Neculce read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 59th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelian Zogreanu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aron Neculce made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 65th minute. In the 68th minute Cornel Surdilă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sol Campbell got his second yellow card in the match during the 73rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Ninjas in Pyjamas getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aron Neculce having to interfere. In the 79th match minute, Ninjas in Pyjamas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sorin Tăgorean to maneuver through the defense. 81 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Ninjas in Pyjamas's Aron Neculce. Aron Neculce was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Aurelian Zogreanu took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aurelian Zogreanu in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Ninjas in Pyjamas fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
