Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Robert Wnukowski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robert Wnukowski in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
