With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Jacobo Casado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niilo Mikkola in the 13th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Francisco Seco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximiliano Escribano couldn't finish the play. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dinei Pinheiro having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Uruguay had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
