Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gino Tonić in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 39th minute, Hugo De Leon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Luís Braga kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gino Tonić showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Arturo Turner made the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mané Belino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gino Tonić having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Laerte Marquez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. When the match clock showed 90 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Laerte Marquez sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. With a little luck, New Miran FC's Gino Tonić got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
