The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rigoberto Mina during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Ajax Colombiano's Baba Ba fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Baba Ba succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 9th playminute. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Lorenz Ureta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baba Ba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. 26 minutes into the match, Ajax Colombiano's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Lorenz Ureta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Ivon Gasca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 33rd minute of play forced Ajax Colombiano's goalkeeper Lorenz Ureta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amado Ba in the 39th minute. 39 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ajax Colombiano the free kick. In the 39th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Ajax Colombiano's Errapel Aguiluz suffered a concussion in the 56th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Ajax Colombiano's Hector Ferman was substituted for Pudes Checa. After 60 minutes of play, Ajax Colombiano's Baba Ba made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivon Gasca in the 63rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitri Payet in the 65th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute of the match Ajax Colombiano got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dimitri Payet ran over to the corner to take the kick. When Dimitri Payet fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ajax Colombiano's protests and gave Dimitri Payet a yellow card for diving instead. Dimitri Payet kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Ivon Gasca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ajax Colombiano's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivon Gasca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Ajax Colombiano fans' excitement grew in the 78th match minute when Ajax Colombiano's Baba Ba looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Lorenz Ureta made a huge save. Dimitri Payet kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Bitxintxo Lobado kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Ajax Colombiano's goalkeeper Lorenz Ureta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lorenz Ureta having to make a save.
