Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Textex having to interfere. In the 6th match minute, Newpi Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nereo Jakes to maneuver through the defense. 7 minutes into the match, Newpi Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Richard Textex reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 9th minute, when Alberto Tonete scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. With an all-out effort, Newpi Academy's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 16 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alberto Tonete, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tonete in the 18th minute of play. Richard Textex showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of the match. Newpi Academy's Antonio Perrando shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Julio Vera but with some difficulty. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Eulalio Otsando came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alberto Tonete's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 29thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornelio Guerrero in the 33rd minute of play. Alberto Tonete fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alberto Tonete stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tonete came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Richard Textex made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Richard Textex made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 78th minute of play. If Gavino Lauren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 played minutes Newpi Academy got a freekick which was hit by Eulalio Otsando. Richard Textex was out of position in the 82 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alberto Tonete in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alberto Tonete's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Newpi Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wulf Köllner didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nereo Jakes fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newpi Academy's protests and gave Nereo Jakes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 94th minute, Nereo Jakes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Newpi Academy's Alberto Tonete got a free kick in the 95th minute. Ecuador's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
