But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristinel Povară couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Răzvan Gugulanu got a free kick in the 16th minute. Tomas Illescas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ioan Papadima. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 18th minute, Claudiu Volosin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 27th minute of play forced GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's goalkeeper Ioan Papadima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 43 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pavel Tăutu. After 45 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Pavel Tăutu made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Cristinel Patriciu managed to get in a good position for a shot. GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristinel Patriciu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Ioan Papadima made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 57th minute. Ioan Papadima made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. When Claudiu Volosin fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's protests and gave Claudiu Volosin a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes GoooooooooooooooooooooooL got a freekick which was hit by Claudiu Volosin. A collision led to GoooooooooooooooooooooooL getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Claudiu Volosin hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Dumitru Bogătean kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. In the 85th minute of the match, Joshua Secada tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ioan Papadima saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 86th minute Venezuela were awarded a corner. Tomas Illescas went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, GoooooooooooooooooooooooL's Pavel Tăutu got a free kick in the 87th minute. Pavel Tăutu made in the 89th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Cristinel Patriciu immediately put the ball in play. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Venezuela were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
