In the 33rd minute of the match Deportivo Popolizio FBC got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cris Ronaldo ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 35th minute Torbjørn Trondsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hermann Hesse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. Hermann Hesse made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Facundo Cadaval sent off a good shot on target. If Bartolo Basualdo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Bartolo Basualdo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Bartolo Basualdo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Facundo Cadaval came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Facundo Cadaval couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damian Regulez during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 91st match minute, Deportivo Popolizio FBC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damian Regulez to maneuver through the defense. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bartolo Basualdo went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Deportivo Popolizio FBC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Mexico for a fine match.
